SENIOR ADVOCATE SERVICES

Services Provided:

  • Guardianship
  • Conservatorship
  • Information and referral

Business Hours: Monday - Friday

9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The Senior Advocate provides services to low-income senior citizens 60 years of age or older living in Macomb County. The goal of this Service is to provide the support and assistance needed to promote and secure happier independent and congregate living. Initial needs are assessed and possible provisions are then discussed.

Unlike other Advocate services that provide Guardianship and Conservatorships Macomb Family Services program provides a higher level of care and personal assistance. Our Advocate meets one on one with the senior and has regular follow up visits to insure that their needs are being met. The Advocate then can assist in linking the consumer with other agency programs and community resources.

Fees for Services:

  • Guardianship Services - 1 Year $720*
  • Conservatorship Services - 1 Year $720*

* Fee covered by FIA for Medicaid recipients.

Note: A sliding scale will be employed in the event that an otherwise eligible senior citizen cannot afford the above fees.

Who Are Our Support Caregivers?

Our Caregivers come from all walks of life. Each has a different reason for wanting to work with this population. Some miss the companionship of an older person in their life. Some took care of a loved one and discovered they had a “knack” for this line of work. Others have a little time to give while their children are in school and some just want to earn a little extra income. What all of them share in common is that they have big hearts and want to give back to someone in need.

Who do we serve? (You must meet all three criteria.)

  • Age 55 and older.
  • Living in Northern Macomb County ( 16 Mile / Metropolitan Parkway and northward.)
  • Low to Moderate Income

Cost

We work on a sliding fee scale. Your total household income will determine what your hourly rate for services will be. For our lowest income people, we utilize volunteers from the community. For other low to moderate income people, a charge of between $6-8 an hour is incurred. Call for a price quote.
